With the rapid development of LED display technology, LED display products have shown diversified development. Today's LED displays are widely used in all walks of life. However, for novices, many professional terms for LED displays are I don’t understand, so what are the common professional terms for LED displays?
1.LED brightness
The brightness of a light-emitting diode is generally expressed in terms of luminous intensity (Luminous Intensity), and the unit is candela cd; 1000ucd (micro-candela) = 1 mcd (millicandela), 1000mcd = 1 cd.
The light intensity of a single LED for indoor use is generally 500ucd-50 mcd, while the light intensity of a single LED for outdoor use should generally be 100 mcd-1000 mcd, or even more than 1000 mcd.
2. LED pixel module
LEDs are arranged in matrices or segments and are prefabricated into standard-sized modules. Commonly used indoor display screens include 8*8 pixel modules and 8-word and 7-segment digital modules.
Outdoor display screen pixel modules have specifications such as 4*4, 8*8, and 8*16 pixels. The pixel module used in outdoor display screens is also called a header bundle module because each pixel is composed of more than two LED tube bundles.
3. Pixel and pixel diameter
Each LED light-emitting unit (point) in the LED display screen that can be individually controlled is called a pixel (or pixel). Pixel diameter ∮ refers to the diameter of each pixel, in millimeters.
4. Resolution
The number of rows and columns of pixels in the LED display is called the resolution of the LED display. Resolution is the total number of pixels on a display screen, which determines the information capacity of a display screen.
5. Grayscale
Grayscale refers to the degree of change in light and shade of pixels. The grayscale of a primary color generally has 8 to 12 levels. For example, if the grayscale of each primary color is 256 levels, for a dual-primary color screen, the display color is 256×256=64K colors, which is also called a 256-color display screen.
6. Double primary colors
Most color LED displays today are dual-primary color screens, that is, each pixel has two LED dies: one is a red light die and the other is a green light die.
When the red light tube core is on, the pixel is red, when the green light tube core is on, the pixel is green, and when both red and green tube cores are on at the same time, the pixel is yellow. Among them, red and green are called primary colors.
7. Full color
The red and green dual primary colors plus the blue primary color make up the three primary colors to form a full color. Since the technology to form full-color blue tubes and pure green tube cores is now mature, full-color tubes are basically used on the market.
8. SMT and SMD
SMT is surface mounting technology (abbreviation for Surface Mounted Technology), which is currently the most popular technology and process in the electronic assembly industry; SMD is surface mounting device (abbreviation for Surface mounted device).
